Town of Fort Smith Bargaining Updates

We're happy to report that bargaining dates have been set: 

January 30 to February 3, 2012.

December 20, 2011

The Public Service Alliance of Canada served notice to bargain on September 30, 2011. The Union has made several attempts to secure bargaining dates since serving notice to bargain. TheUnionhas not received any correspondence from the Town ofFort Smithregarding dates upon which bargaining proposals may be exchanged and negotiations commenced. The Union will continue to pursue bargaining dates with the Town of Fort Smith however if the Employer does not agree to bargaining dates then we will request the Canada Industrial Relations Board to intervene in January 2012. 

The collective agreement between the Town ofFort Smithand Public Service Alliance of Canada will expire onDecember 31, 2011. However, the current provisions of the collective agreement will remain in effect until there is a renewal of the collective agreement. The only exception is if the parties reach impasse and move into a legal strike/lockout position.
